Saturday, June 16, 2001 U.S. List of YMCA Skateparks That Allow Bikes The YMCA has been very supportive of creative sports such as skating, inline and BMX. Here is a list of YMCA skateparks that allow bikes.
Note: This list is a work in progress. If you know of any other YMCA parks that allow bicycles, please contact BRO at INFO@BMXRIDERS.ORG . ARIZONA YMCA Skatepark Prescott, AZ Address: 750 Whipple Street Prescott AZ Bike Session: Thursdays 3-7, Waiver Required Helmet only Free for members, $3 otherwise phone: (520)445-7221 CALIFORNIA Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Skatepark 200 Saxony Rd. Encinitas, CA 92024 (760) 942-9622 Park Terrain: Bowl, Mini ramp, Pads, Street, Vert, membership and/or fee required. Directions: I-5 to Encinitas Blvd. and go east one block to Saxony Dr. Turn left and go 1 mile. Park is on the left hand side of the street. Mission Valley YMCA Skatepark 3250 Camino Del Rio North San Diego, CA 92110 (619) 281-7885 Park Terrain: 50,000 sq. ft of skateable terrain. The park has a 6 ft. spine, a vert ramp, street obstacles for all levels of skating, and a big air jump. Pads are required and a membership is needed. Directions: From Interstate 5, take I-8 EAST. From Interstates 805 or 15, take I-8 WEST. From Interstate 8, exit at Qualcomm Way/Texas St. Take Qualcomm Wy. north one block to Camino Del Rio North. Turn RIGHT onto Camino Del Rio North and follow the road about one mile (you'll be heading EAST and the road will pass under Interstate 805). The park will be on the left. In an old Wilco storage building. Description: Indoor/Outdoor. Wall ride, half pipe and street course. Phone: 503-873-0205. ILLINOIS Kankakee Area YMCA 1075 N. Kennedy Dr. Kankakee, IL (815) 933-1741 KENTUCKY YMCA Someplace to Skate Pikeville Area Family YMCA 606-433-9622 (YMCA) 424 Bob Amos Drive Pikeville, KY 41501 they allow bikes in the skatepark and also have a dirt track for bicycles. Bikes allowed during all park hours. MINNESOTA YMCA Chelsea Skatepark 161 Jaycee Court Mankato, MN 56001 Phone: 507.387.8222 Fax: 507.387.2611 Bikes allowed during all hours. Park is open M-R 3pm-10pm, Fri 3pm-12am, Sat 10am-10pm, and Sun 12pm-10pm. Summer hours 10am-10pm every day except Sunday (12pm-10pm) 10,000' outdoor street course, also dirt trails If you are under 18 a parent must sign it in person or can be fax/mailed to you which would need to be notarized. This park is for skaters, inliners, and bikers." Parent or Guardian must sign waiver. Description: 7' quaterpipe, 5' quaterbowl, 8' vert wall, 4' quarterpipe, 2 pyramids, 1 big fly box and 1 little fly box, 2 sub-boxes, 3 straight ledge, 2 kinked ledges, 1 rail, a roll-in, and a speed ramp. TEXAS Northeast YMCA Skatepark - TEXAS Address: 5509 WIll Ruth Ave. El Paso, TX 79924 Phone: (915) 755-5685 Park Description: 6' mini ramp, 12' vert ramp, Street Course on asphalt with quarterpipe, hips, stairs, rails, flybox & grindbox Park Rules: Must wear all safety gear.
