Friday, November 28, 2003 Felton,CA Ramp Park May Close Teen center ran out of funds to keep BMX/Skatepark open. Meeting Tuesday Dec. 9th. From Christopher Wright Check out my cool art! and spread this email around!!! ![]() To Be more coherent....The situtation is that the Slv Youth First non profit Teen Center currently / no longer has the funds to continue operating the Skate / BMX Park program. So I looks like I lose my job and the Park could go under. I was hit with this quite suddenly and unexpectedly on the other day. We just need to buy some time and or convince the Teen Center board of directors to find a way to keep it going. If they can't we will have to keep it going another way. I am already talking with another non-profit organization about taking on the program if it comes to it.. So Buying time involves money. Even small donations help. I know BMXers are all broke but maybe your parents or other types you know aren't. Corporate sponsorships welcome. One of you'all might know some guy at some large company. Tap your resources. What would also help is to come to the meeting with any sort of positive story about the Felton Park and how BMX Keeps you off crack or whatever; or maybe any good video you've shot. Photos, Written testimonials from you or your parents. The Board of Directors never visit the park and have little clue of what goes on there. Get your parents involved if you can. They may be able to do more than you realize. I Have a new deal with a company called APS credit card processors. They do card processing for a lot of BMX companies like Tip Plus. This will be the key to the long term funding of the Park. I just want to try to raise up to $20.000 or as little as $5000 anyway we can until we can get some other accounts set up with APS and get a larger cash flow coming from them. I've spoken to them and we will be working to put together a package that can be taken around to local business. John at APS tells me with enough accounts (one or two big ones) the skatepark program could fully funded. It works like this. For each Lead on a business we provide him that results in a new account for him...The Park would get 20% of each transaction fee. I have 3 accounts now and get about $50 -$90 bucks a month. I just need to bump it up to $3000 a month. It's very doable. To try and save The Felton Park everyone should come to the Teen Center Board of directors Meeting Tuesday December 9th. At the Corner of Hwy 9 and Graham hill rd in Felton. Next to JB's Burger stand. Just 1/3 mile up the street from the park. The number there is 831-335-9760. Remember we need to stress the positive rather than getting ugly about the stupidity of the very idea they would close the park. We have to show them the Park is so goddam wonderful they would feel stupid closing it.Everyone bring your parents and anyone you know who's ever been there and also your wallets and checkbooks and family silver. This is it. Felton is getting closed down permanent unless I can raise say $10,000 or $20,000 in a hurry. I know it sounds like a lot. But if we get enough people and parents there...who knows. I just need a massive show of support for offering an all but free park for the past 4 years.
